ButterBawd is a legitimate brand proudly made in India. Unlike fast fashion labels, we manufacture our fabrics in-house to create premium-quality, long-lasting tops and bodysuits.
What is ButterBawd?
ButterBawd is a homegrown Indian brand that is perfect for modern women who love clean, effortless styling, which meets their minimalist aesthetic needs through elevated basics, fitted tops, and bodysuits. We help women find confidence through materials that are lightweight, breathable, and airy, melting into their skin, making our pieces perfect for Indian weather and achieving a snatched and sculpted look.
Who is the founder of ButterBawd?
Meet the woman behind the brand, Ritika Chowdhury. She started ButterBawd because she herself could not find the perfect body-hugging and comfortable clothes.
If the top was comfortable and soft, the design would not be good, or if the design was perfect, she would have to sacrifice the comfort level.
She decided to take the initiative and start ButterBawd, prioritising the needs of all women in India with the objective in mind that compression without comfort is just not worth it. ButterBawd fabrics give the snatched effect while melting into all body shapes, not restricting movement or curves. We got the perfect designs, colours and fabrics after extensive research and experimentation for multiple years, and truly, it has been a great start.
What is the process of manufacturing the pieces in the factory like?
Our fabrics take shape in our own factory in India, and the Melt-Makers craft our pieces keeping in mind that the fabric is stretchable, soft and hugs every curve in all the right places. These pieces have versatile designs that can be worn for daily wear and for all occasions. ButterBawd pieces are built on the three pillars: comfort, versatility and confidence.
We don’t use off the shelf materials. Our fabrics SkinMelt ™, SoftServe ™ and RibCloud ™ are all light, airy and feel buttery soft with gentle structures, making our pieces truly cloudlike.

Is ButterBawd suitable for the Indian climate?
Being a Made In India brand, pieces are manufactured keeping in mind the tropical weather conditions in India. Our pieces are body contouring while the fabric feels like a second skin, with a barely-there level of comfort. Our fabrics are double-lined and can be worn without a bra, or with pasties and seamless bras. Even full-sleeve tops and bodysuits can be worn during summer without overheating!
